Virtual Canadian Citizenship Tests Are Now Available
Last March, due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the IRCC suspended Canadian citizenship tests. Like so many businesses, a pivot towards a virtual option was needed, but with safeguards to ensure proper identification. For those seeking to take Canadian citizenship tests, the IRCC has launched their new virtual options.
Currently, all in-person tests and interviews remain canceled, and to ensure Covid protocols are abided by, an invite from the IRCC must be received in order to take the citizenship test. The virtual option provides an opportunity to ensure Canadian immigration and its pathways continue forward.
Online Citizenship Test Expectations
Confirming identification is important throughout the process and technology is being utilized to make the process more streamlined. Test takes will be required to take a photo of themselves and their ID documents with a webcam before the test can begin. Next, similar to other exams and admission tests, the online platform will continuously take photos of participants during the test which is a process that has been used to ensure the integrity of identity confirmation.
Those individuals whom would like to take an in-person version of the test, are still welcome to wait until a date is set when Covid measures can be made safely.
